Specialized Programs
*1) The Language Appreciation Program (LAP)
WestsideTutoring's Language Appreciation Program (LAP) combines the development of reading and writing skills into a single, holistic approach to the study of language arts.
Westside Tutoring believes and the data reflects that the two main components of the Language Appreciation Program (LAP) cannot be effectively taught separately. The two skills, reading and writing, are linked and need to progress in concert.
Furthermore, the rigid approach of the past to the teaching of English language skills has been shown to be largely ineffective.
Westside Tutoring uses a balanced enrichment program that combines immersion and progressive challenges through individual, one-on-one instruction.
The results are amazing!
*2) The Mathematics Skills Acquisition Program (MSAP)
The study of mathematics has emerged as one of the most important fields of study in the United States and abroad. The current emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics or STEM validates this point.
The individual who can master mathematics has a bright future in today's world.
Westside Tutoring designed its mathematics program with an eye towards the practical applications of mathematics in today's world (STEM).
Westside Tutoring offers instruction in mathematics from the pre-K level math through graduate level statistics.
Note: Coursework includes tutoring in basic mathematics, prealgebra, algebra, algebra II, trigonometry, geometry, precalculus, calculus, and statistics.
*3) Study Skills, Task Prioritization, and Time Management
The three programs:
a) Study Skills
b) Time Management
c) Task Prioritization
All three entail the effective use of time and energy. The ability to set and achieve goals is an integral component of all three programs.
The focus of these three programs is much the same and the subject matter, when applied effectively, will lead to a mastery of self previously unknown to the student.
The skills acquired will lead to a more dynamic student able to take on advanced subject matter and deal with it effectively.
*4)The Study of History and Social Studies
Westside Tutoring has developed tutoring programs for elementary, intermediate, and upper level students.
Westside Tutoring offers tutoring in US History, Russian History, World History, Roman History, Greek History, Medieval History, European History (the fall of Rome to present), the History of Egyptian Civilization, the History of the Pre-Columbian New World, Native American Studies, Geography, General Social Studies, and many more.

Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics!
STEM is the "Go West Young Man" of the 21st century.
That's what everyone is claiming anyway. Well, from where we sit, they're right!
Westside Tutoring offers programs in Biology, Geology, Earth Science, Human Ecology, Ecology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Gross Anatomy, Physics, Genetics, and more.
If you have an interest in science or you're just struggling to get through the semester, we have a program for you.
Our Founder
The Founder and General Manager of Westside-Tutoring.com is John P.J. Zajaros, Sr., known to friends and relatives as Jack.
Tutoring and coaching for more than 30 years, Jack and his family developed the Westside Tutoring website together as the next-step in a growing family enterprise.
The need for qualified tutors has grown considerably over the past decade and a website seemed like the logical next step.
Jack attended Bay High School and, during the Vietnam Era, entered the US Army. He was honorably discharged in June of 1973 with an Honorable/Medical Discharge.
Jack is a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and several other veterans groups.
In August of 1973, Jack enrolled as a freshman at Case Western Reserve University. The GI Bill made CWRU possible. Life, and the birth of his son Jack Jr., stepped in and it was twenty years before he finished his college education.
In June of 1993, Jack Sr. graduated from Cleveland State University. Jack graduated summa cum laude (3.97GPA), with majors in Anthropology and History and a minor in Psychology.
Jack has been inducted into Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, the Golden Key International Honour Society, and Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society.
Jack also received the CSU Anthropology Department's Highest Honors Award.
As an undergraduate, Jack conducted independent research at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History (CMNH, the Hamann-Todd Collection), the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), and the National Museum of Natural History-Smithsonian (NMNH, the Terry Collection). The findings were presented at the Central States Anthropology Association Convention (1992), the American Anthropological Association meetings (1993), and at the New York Consortium on Evolutionary Primatology (NYCEP, 1994).
The physical anthroplogist then accompanied the CSU Maya Mountain Archaeological Project (MMAP) to Belize, C.A. The expedition was funded by the National Geographic in 1992.
Jack returned to Belize a year later to study the impact of ecotourism on Bermudian Landing's population, the Bermudian Landing Howler Monkey Preserve, and the howler monkey population.
Jack continued his education in 1993 with a NYCEP Doctoral Fellowship. Highly competitive, only six fellowships were awarded nationally.
The NYCEP consortium was, made up of Columbia University, New York University, the City University of New York Graduate Center, the American Museum of Natural History, and the New York Zoological Society.
The NYCEP Doctoral (Ph.D.) Fellowship was a fast-track program leading straight from B.A to Ph.D.
In 1996 Jack returned to northeast Ohio and resumed his tutoring, coaching, and studying. In other words, he resumed his life as a husband, father, and community leader.
The Zajaros Family lives in Lakewood, Ohio with their Puggle "TuffGuy" and their Sheltland Sheepdog, "Bart."
Jack and his wife of 27 years have four children and two granddaughters, Kailyn and Brynn. Kailyn is 4 and "Brynnie" is 2.
Someday they'll be helping out at Westside Tutoring...and probably running the place!
